Credit Card Price Protection

Most of us have experienced the frustration of buying something - perhaps after having spent weeks or months of saving - only to find the same item for significantly less in another store, or even worse, on sale a week later at the shop where we originally bought the item. The difference can sometimes be as much as hundreds of pounds.

Typically included within a credit card package and costing just a few pence a month,Price Protection Insurance from Assurant Solutions allows the consumer to claim back the difference between the original price paid and the reduced price, thus ensuring they do not miss out on getting a great deal.

Features and benefits

Our Price Protection Insurance covers most purchases of new personal items (including gifts) bought from any store in the UK.

Cover is usually provided as a complimentary offering within a credit card package and costs a few pence a month - or a small annual premium can be paid.

  • It covers purchases made using the relevant credit card;
  • Cover is immediate, giving extra peace of mind to the consumer, knowing that their purchase is protected from day one in today's increasingly competitive retail environment;
  • The consumer doesn't have to compare prices within the same chain of stores. If they find the item cheaper anywhere in the UK, they can claim;
  • Claims can be made for a maximum of £500 per item;
  • Claims can be made for up to 60 days following purchase of the item;
  • A 30-day cooling off period allows the consumer to make sure the cover is right for them.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the product the shopper needs to be a customer of a credit card company that provides this cover.

Exclusions

The customer must always submit the claim first to the shop where they bought the item or the manufacturer if they offer a low price guarantee. Thereafter, the main exclusions include:

  • Items purchased at an auction or from Internet sites;
  • Items that are not identical;
  • PC or computer equipment and software;
  • Incorrectly priced items or one-off/special order items;
  • Goods bought in a sale.
