News Room November 4, 2004 Assurant Solutions Plans Job Fair for Kingston Centre Nov. 10 KINGSTON, Ontario: Assurant Solutions will hold a job fair on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at The Ambassador Resort Hotel, 1550 Princess St., to recruit employees to support the continuing growth of its Kingston operations centre, 1287 Gardiners Road. Company representatives will be available from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss employment opportunities, including current openings for customer service, claims and technical support associates. Human Resources Manager Donna J. Miller said the company is looking forward to having another opportunity to explain who it is and what it does to prospective employees. "Our first job fair in April 2003 attracted over 2,400 people," she said. "That event provided us with a wealth of fine candidates that we are now looking to replenish." Candidates for customer service and claims positions should have a Grade 12 or equivalent education, a minimum of one year's customer service or call centre experience and demonstrated the ability to meet or exceed sales targets and to provide quality service. Technical support candidates should have a Grade 12 or equivalent education, one to three years' customer service and technical support experience, proficiency in Windows, and experience promoting and selling products. Both positions require the ability to work various shifts and weekends. Assurant Solutions companies are leading providers of specialty risk management programs, including creditor insurance and extended service contracts, throughout North America, the Caribbean and selected markets in South America and Europe. The Kingston centre, which currently has 275 employees, opened in July 2003. It provides customer support and claim processing services for Canadian customers. Miller said a common misconception about the Kingston centre's business is that it does telemarketing. "We may look like a call centre, but we handle only inbound inquiries and insurance claims for our customers. Our focus is providing the exceptional services that our customers are paying us for. Our associates do no outbound soliciting." The Kingston centre also has a special need for persons who are bilingual. "If you can work in both English and French, we want to talk with you," she said. Persons planning to attend the job fair should bring a current resume, reference letters and "a desire to work on a dynamic team," she said.
